Torrance Public Library offers a range of materials and services for job seekers and small business owners and entrepreneurs including books, online databases, a webpage, and other business resources. The Library provides in-house and remote access to Reference USA, a database containing detailed information on nearly 12 million U. S. businesses; EBSCO magazine database which contains thousands of full-text magazine and journal articles; and ProQuest, a newspaper database featuring full text articles from major newspapers such as the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times. Other business aids available include statistical and demographic sources for targeted marketing; industry overviews to assist in analyzing market trends; directories identifying industry associations, trade journals, and magazines; and information on industry ratios and product market share statistics.
Torrance Public Library's catalog includes listings of more than 300,000 titles including books, periodicals, compact discs, DVDs, videocassettes, and audiobooks. The online catalog can be accessed via the Internet at http://www.library.torrnet.com. Click on the “Favorite Websites” link to access an array of useful links on employment and business. Free wireless access is available at the Katy Geissert Civic Center Library and the Library is equipped with a large meeting room, as well as several smaller conference rooms available for public booking. Reference staff assists with research and instruction in use of library resources. There is no charge to borrow materials or access library databases and other resources; however, a free Torrance Public Library card is necessary.
