Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
Our educational website has been around since 2009. However, we have been in Production Sound for Film/Video since 1977, including experience as a soundmixer, business owner, and educator.
What is your primary product or service?
We provide KNOWLEDGE. We specialize in teaching Production Sound Recording for film/video, and we focus on providing informative content to a general audience who may or may not be professional sound people. FilmTVsound.com does not sell nor rent any equipment; we only charge a small subscription fee to cover the overhead of running a commercial-free site that accepts no paid advertising. This site also serves as an online coursebook for several university courses who use it as their primary text.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I am a trained filmmaker with multiple degrees, including a PhD. I have worked in Hollywood since 1977, won major awards, and currently work as an Adjunct Professor at CSUN and Chapman Univ, as well as an official instructor for a couple of major audio manufacturers. I love teaching, whether it be to college students or working professionals.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Our website is a labor of love. We are non-commercial and do not rely upon, nor even accept, payments from advertisers and vendors. Unlike some of the elite professional forums that deal with Production Sound, we focus on keeping it easy to understand and cater to the film student or aspiring professional who may not highly experienced in sound.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We are not a shop. I write out of my home office or university office, so we only have a PO box address.

What type of payments do you accept?
We accept PayPal, and PayPal also accepts credit cards.
Which areas do you service?
Our readership is international, although the majority of our readers are college students. We also have a large number of college professors and Hollywood tradesmen (sound mixers, editors).
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
EQE Media & Communications is in charge of content, which is run by Fred Ginsburg CAS PhD MBKS. The website itself is managed by Corsair Media Services.
What are your hours of operation?
We are 24/7 since we are a website.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
"I learned something new and my film/video is better because of it."
What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
Never let education get in the way of learning!
